I purchased Hau Lani Hawaiian Shave Ice Cream of Va LLC in 2010 but it was established as Hau Lani Shave Ice Cream Co LLC in 2005 by it's founder who, after visiting Hawaii on his honeymoon, couldn't wait to get back to the mainland to introduce the magic of Hawaii to those who had never been. To him, Hawaii was a magical place for many reasons. First of which was being able to spend the first few weeks with his new wife in such a fun, beautiful, and peaceful place. Second was the spirit of Aloha that is so abundantly given by those who call Hawaii their home. Third was his new found love of Shave Ice which is considered by many as the official dessert and treat of Hawaii. He believed that by sharing and promoting the Aloha spirit as well as bringing the sights and sounds of Hawaii to those who enjoyed a favorite Hawaiian treat would be able to experience that magic of Hawaii too...
Thus Hau Lani Hawaiian Shave Ice Cream was born...
Our Name... Hau Lani is translated as Heavenly Ice in the Hawaiian Language. Hau is the Hawaiian word for Ice and Lani is the Hawaiian word for Heavenly.
Our Logo... Our logo incorporates the universal hand sign of Hawaii “Hang Loose” as well as a surfboard which was started by Hawaiian royalty as a sign of courage and a Plumeria flower which is commonly used in Hawaiian Leis.
Our Experience... We spread the Aloha spirit by serving Hawaiian Shave Ice, Hawaiian Ice Cream and Hawaiian Shave Ice Cream. You will also experience Hawaii as you listen to the natural rhythms of Hawaiian Music and see Hawaiian Videos on subjects as varied as Hawaiian History & Culture, Tourism, Surfing and Hula.
Aloha is defined as...
A is for AKAHAI, meaning kindness, to be expressed with a feeling of tenderness.
L is for LÔKAHI, meaning unity, to be expressed with a feeling of harmony.
O is for `OLU`OLU, meaning agreeable, to be expressed with a feeling of pleasantness.
H stands for HA`AHA`A, meaning humility, to be expressed with a feeling of modesty.
A stands for AHONUI, meaning patient, to be applied with perseverance.
These are the values that all employees of Hau Lani Hawaiian Shave Ice Cream of Va LLC have when working with customers, each other and our community. In fact, every customer who comes to Hau Lani Hawaiian Shave Ice Cream is greeted with Aloha (Hello) and when they depart we say Mahalo (Thank You) as well as giving the universal "hang loose" hand sign. Our customers are our Ohana, which means family in the extended sense of the word. It emphasizes that family is bound together and members must cooperate and remember one another.
The Sights and Sounds... At Hau Lani Hawaiian Shave Ice Cream of Va LLC we want you to not only enjoy a Hawaiian Shave Ice, Hawaiian Ice Cream or Signature Shave Ice Creams but also be immersed in the culture of Hawaii past and present. We show Hawaiian related videos and play Hawaiian music all during the day and evening. There's no telling what you might learn!
The Tastes... From the beginning Hau Lani Hawaiian Shave Ice Cream wanted to serve the types of Shave Ice that you would find in Hawaii and to feature true Hawaiian products when ever we could. To us, it would be disrespectful to call our product Hawaiian Shave Ice and not serve anything Hawaiian. True Hawaiian Products featured at Hau Lani Hawaiian Shave Ice Cream include our selections of our Shave Ice Syrups and Sugar Cane Sticks that are harvested from the Big Island of Hawaii. Mui.
We look forward to serving you and please let us know how we are doing!
